Internet Policy
In response to advances in technology and the changing needs of the community, the Weyauwega Public Library endeavors to develop collections, resources and services that meet the informational, recreational, and educational needs of the Weyauwega community. It is within this context that the Weyauwega Public Library offers access to the Internet.
The Weyauwega Public Library does not monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content. The Internet is an unregulated medium. It offers access to material that is personally, professionally and culturally enriching to persons of all ages. However, it also enables access to some material that may be offensive, disturbing and /or illegal. The Library does not monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content. The library assumes no responsibility for the quality, accuracy or currency of any Internet resource. Internet users should be aware that not all information found on the Internet is accurate or current.
All Internet resources accessible through the library are provided equally to all library users. Parents or legal guardians, not the library or its staff, are responsible for the Internet information selected and/or accessed by their children. Parents- and only parents or legal guardians - may restrict their children- and only their children- from access to Internet resources accessible through the library. Parents are advised to supervise their children's Internet sessions.

The Weyauwega Public Library does not monitor an individual's use of any sites. As all Internet workstations are in view of other patrons and staff, users are not
permitted to display any visual images containing nudity, obscenity,or graphic violence.Not all sources on the Internet provide accurate, complete, or current information.
You need to be a good information consumer, questioning the validity of the information you find.
Staff Assistance
For many library staff, the Internet is also a new experience. Others may have more experience. In all cases, we will attempt to assist you in accessing the Internet. Although library staff cannot provide in-depth training concerning the Internet or computer use, we will always try to offer suggestions.
Guidelines
- The Internet computer will be available during normal library hours, subject to periodic maintenance.
- Use of the Internet computers is on a first come, first serve basis. A 30-minute time limit will be enforced if other people are waiting to use the computer.
- You may not use your own programs on the library's computers.
- All Internet users are required to observe copyright law.
- Persons who use the Internet at the library must respect the privacy of others by refraining from interfering with their use of the workstation.
- Parents are strongly advised to supervise children under 12 in their Internet sessions.
- Printing will cost 25 cents per page.
- You may
have trouble accessing some of the sites you may want to visit
for the following reasons:
- There are already too many visitors at this site and the host computer has limited access.
- The site is licensed to a place you may need to be affiliated with to access.
- The
host computer has changed its address or closed.
- The library's connection may be inoperable due to unforeseen technical difficulties.
Inappropriate use
Misuse or abuses of the computer or Internet access will result in suspension of Internet access. Examples of misuse are:

Making
any attempt to alter software configurations.
- Engaging in any activity which is illegal.
- Installing or downloading to a hard disk.
- Attempting to modify or gain access to files, passwords, or data belonging to others; damaging or altering software components of any network or database.
- Propagation of computer viruses.
- Use of personal software on library equipment.
- Damaging the computer and/or its peripherals.
- Any corruption of the computer's files.
Procedures
- Sign-up at the library's circulation desk is required.
- Registration by telephone is permitted, but only for the day of use, and only during the hours when the library is open.
- Persons are limited to 30 minutes at the workstation unless no one is waiting.
